Hello, my name is Lonnie Jones. I'm a caricature
carver living in Ogden, UT with my soulmate Jennie. (not the t.v. personality)
I have been carving since 2002 and was self-taught up until 2006 when I
took my first class from Pete Leclair.The carvers that have had the biggest influance on me are Pete Leclair and Marv Kaisersatt,
both are founding members of the Caricature Carvers of America. I have competed in the Utah woodcarving shows for about
3 years with many talented carvers. Most of my carvings are done out of basswood with a linseed oil basecoat followed
by a light acrylic wash. I really enjoy what I do, It seems as if when I paint each piece they really come to life,
each piece is a part of me.
I have
always drawn cartoons even as a little whipper snapper, when I discovered woodcarving it seemed like a perfect medium in which
to bring my cartoon ideas to something tangeable. I have recently started sculpting caricatures in clay too which has
been a lot of fun.
